I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “hidden,” I love spending my Thursday nights with my FMF friends. I adore these people! But I missed them this week since I was spending the week at the ND State Fair with my sissy.
I have been busy spending the week with my sister at the North Dakota State Fair. I love spending time with those I love and running into friends, family, etc. There were all sorts of hidden joys along the way.
I found hidden joy as I watched two church youth jump on this bouncy jump thing. I don’t know what it was called, but they were attached to a bungee cord and got to bounce high.
Hidden joy as I learned a new job at our church’s fair booth. We sell fresh made pies, made fresh every morning, hamburgers, etc. I learned how to be the cashier and loved it.
Hidden joy as my sister and I listened to awesome music at fun concerts: LoCash, Old Dominion, Kenny Chesney, and Jake Owen. Jake Owen was an awesome performer. He did the whole concert barefoot.
Hidden joy watching all the kids and families enjoying the fair.
Hidden joy in petting tiny baby goats and seeing all the farm animals.
Hidden joy in watching my mom’s face as we watched the parade and the racing pigs. Pure unspeakable joy!!!
Hidden joy even in eating yummy fair food. A Carmel Apple, roasted almonds, fry bread, cotton candy, homemade pie, shaved ice, Icees and mini donuts. I think I am seriously done for a year for eating fair food.
Hidden joy as I think about how awesome and blessed I am.
Hidden joy as I think of all of you dear friends and family. I’ve missed so many of you!!!
The truth is there is hidden joy all around us…all the time, we just have to open our eyes to see it…to see the ways that God is active and moving in the world.
Sounds like you had a great time! So glad you did! I have found being a part of the work share at my CSA has brought me all sorts of hidden blessings I didn't expect. Peace and blessings to you! Stopping by from FMF!
Thanks for stopping by, Leigh.
God delights in us when we discover the hidden joys that He has planned for us. Thank you for sharing your time at the state fair with all of us. I have only been one time to the Ohio State Fair and I wasn't too impressed. Hopefully they have improved it over the years. Sabbath blessings, friend!
The ND State Fair isn't bad at all. Sabbath blessings to you too!
Loved reading your list of "hidden joys" and am glad you had such a good time! "The truth is there is hidden joy all around us…all the time, we just have to open our eyes to see it…to see the ways that God is active and moving in the world." Amen! Blessings to you dear Tara!
Thanks Gayl! Blessings to you too!
Tara,
oh the baby goats. That's my weakness. I had dairy goats for 4-H for four years. I miss my cute little Saanens! 🙂 I could imagine all that you shared. Especially the wonder as you took in the reactions of others around you and their joy became your joy. Just as frowns are contagious, how much more so the smiles??
Thank you for sharing all of this (and not the calories, ha!)
Love,
Tammy
(#7 this week)
Tammy, the goats were so cute! Love you too!
Racing pigs???
And you didn't give PICTURES??????
Love this Tara. Great post. Wish I were there.
Did you see the pic I shared on Twitter of the racing pigs? I did snap a few pics! Thanks Andrew!
Thanks for the reminder to find and recognize those hidden joys.
Visiting from #13 at FMF.
You're welcome!
The fair sounds like a lot of fun. I agree with Andrew- I would like to see pictures of the racing pigs! I'm glad you had such a good time.
I did get a few pics of the racing pigs. I'll have to share with you sometime.
I like all the details of "hidden joy" around you as you experienced it. You are right that there is hidden joy all around us if we opened our eyes to see it.
Even on the hard days, when it doesn't come so easy to see, they are there really then too.
I'm glad I got a chance to peek into your hidden joy.
Visiting from FMF.
Thank You!
Tara, I love how you found hidden joys even in the "everyday" aspects of your week. Learning, being with family and friends, serving . . . It sounds like you were intentional about looking for joy!
Thanks Jeanne. I tried!
Aww! What awesome memories! Those are the moments we store in our 'happiness bank' to pull out an relive on a rainy (figuative) day.
Yes so true!
