The Way Forward

The weekly Five Minute Friday word prompt for this week is “forward.”

How do we move forward when there is so much injustice, so much hatred?

Why must children of God fear for their lives when they walk outside?

Why does division, hatred, and evil lurk in our world?

Is it because we are sinful beings? Daily sinning and turning away from God?

We must move forward, bring about justice by saying their names.

We must learn from those who do their jobs without inflicting harm on others.

I want to move forward. I, we must take that first step. We must speak and share Gods love in this broken world. We must call upon the injustices we see. We must…and can do better.

“In matters of truth and justice, there is no difference between large and small problems, for issues concerning the treatment of people are all the same.”-Albert Einstein

For the way forward is….Gods love!

  1. It’s been a while since we’ve been FMF neighbors, and I’m glad it’s this week. We wrote about the same thing (sort of). Thank you as always for your perspective.

  2. I’m moving forward with decision
    in this time of need;
    ahead of me, I see collision;
    ring up ramming speed!
    Won’t tolerate intolerance;
    I am a man of peace,
    but will embrace wild violence
    to make the bleeding cease.
    There’s some folks who cannot see
    the need for kind compassion,
    and in the temple, like JC,
    I’ll give them a good lashing.
    They will wail and they will cry
    while they kiss their ass goodbye.

    • Jesus was kind. But he also had to get people’s attention too. In Matthew, he says, I come not to bring peace, but a sword.” It seems to me he was trying to show people that God had the power. We must love one another.

  3. I think we as Christians often confuse God’s sacrificial love with feeling safe and surrounded with people who are just like us. Jesus didn’t hang out with people just like him.

    • That’s right. The text for this coming Sunday is Jesus saying, “I come not to bring peace, but a sword.” Ouch! It seems he is saying sometimes we need to upturn the status quo.
