The Familiar

I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung over at our Five Minute Friday website. Today’s word prompt is “familiar.” We would love to have you join us.

The smell of peppermint in the air
Trees glistening with lights
Mangers set out for all to see.

The words from Go Fish’s album More than a Story
Echoing throughout the house

Holiday movies playing
Laughter sounds
Peace and quiet
A holy hush

The familiarity of the holiday season
As we walk to the manger
Waiting for this holy cry
That breaks the worlds sigh
and pierces the darkness.

The familiar
Jesus Christ
The Messiah
Emmanuel
God with us

  1. I really like this, Tara. We have our familiar Christmas traditions and habits, but at the heart of it is the familiar-yet-always-new story of Emmanuel, God with us in flesh. It never grows old.

  2. Love this, Tara! For me it’s a bit poignant; Christmas doesn’t have anything to mark the season bar some holiday TV, as illness has kind of dominated things here. There’s no energy left even to play carols.

So, thank you, for the vicarious joy! 🙂
