I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “protect.” I’ve missed this amazing group of people, but Amy time in the Rockies was delightful!
On this 4th of July weekend, I am thankful for those who have fought and protected us from our freedom. In the words of the constitution we are reminded that we have been given life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.
I don’t know about you, but there are days that I want to protect my heart and the hearts of my friends and family. I want to protect them for evil and hatred. I want to protect them from having their hearts broken. I want to protect all of us from this world, yet I know that I don’t have the power to protect but God does. God is the one who protects us and keeps us from all harm.
I know that is easier said than done especially when people we love are sick etc. Yet God stands with us even in those deep depths too. God reminds us that we are always enough because God sent God’s son into the world for each of us and out of God’s full and completed love, God ultimately reigns.
There are also days when I question what is happening in the world too. I want to protect myself from being hurt. I want to protect myself from questioning if I can do it even one more day. Yet the truth is that I am enough…because God is enough and God created me and YOU!!
Out of full and completed love, God protects us! “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God is with you; God will never leave you nor orsake you.”–Deuteronomy 31:6
Hi Tara,
I wrote along the same lines today…no one can protect us like God can! I'm your neighbor at #FMF.
Blessings,
Laura
Thanks for stopping Laura!
It is hard to look around and see so much evil and suffering, but so reassuring to remember that God is with us in the midst of it, protecting us. I love the verse you quoted from Deuteronomy.
Yes! It's one of my fave verses!
I wonder sometimes if I had power to protect, how much of God's plan would go forth? You prompted me to visit Deuteronomy and I see you visited there yourself.
Yes!
Truth friend! God protects us better than we can do it.
Yep!
I so resonate with this… It hurts my heart when I can't protect others – those I love or the most vulnerable. It's hard trusting God's redemption… Thanks for this thoughtful post.

Me too, Annie!
Tara,
and sometimes God does not spare us because His protection is limiting the severity of the lesson, so His sparing is different than what we would have preferred.
Very excellent post!
I liken this to the study of butterflies. Without struggle, they cannot develop the strength they need to fly. If you cut open their cocoon or chrysalis, they will die.
Missed you, but so glad you saw the Rockies! My fondest state.
Love,
Tammy
So true! Ohhh I love your butterfly analogy. Missed you too but the Rockies are my fave!
Tara, I want to protect too. Guess I'm a recovering control-freak. Loved your thoughts on the word. (hugs)
Glad I'm not alone in wanting to protect too.
"God ultimately reigns."
A-to-the-men, sister! Whatever happens, God is on the throne!
Yes!
God's protection is amazing! As someone who likes to be in control, it can be hard to hand over the reins. But who better to hand them to?!?
So so true!
Beautiful, Tara. Yes, it can be hard to see that God is protecting us…but when He's got you safe in His inside vest pocket, maybe it's kinda dark there!
31 at FMF this week.

Thanks Andrew!
I feel the same 🙁 It is so difficult to realise how powerless we are, but so comforting to know that Someone else is in it all with us… thanks for your post!
Emma, glad I'm in good company. You're welcome.
Tara, what a hopeful post. I'm so thankful that God is our ultimate protector. He sees the troubles coming, as well as the troubles we're in. He knows how to best protect us and walk with us through them. I'm learning to lean into Him, even when i can't see how He's protecting those I love, or me.
Thanks Jeanne! Me too!
