The last couple of days have been difficult as the news of Ben spread to the Wartburg Community (those there now and those that have graduated but are still connected to the community). I am so sad for my friend Renee and her husband Ben who I consider a friend as well. Ben was in Haiti at the time of the quake for a J-Term class. Ben was a beautiful soul who immenated God’s love to all he met and encountered. The following words are words that I feel capture how many of us have been feeling. Hope you enjoy it and may these words help you remember such a beautiful soul filled with Christ’s love!
No Words, Only Tears (Dedicated to Ben Larson)
By Tara L. Ulrich
My heart is heavy
Tears that yearn;
Yearn to be with others,
To hold each other,
To weep together.
Tears that ask why;
Why did you take so precious a child?
A child who carried your love to all he met,
Who brightened a room with his smile
And his Christ-like presence and joy.
Tears that rejoice,
Rejoice in the words of his music;
His gift to us on this Earth
And the embodiment of who he is.
Tears that are separated by miles
But also tears that show how
Each of us has been touched by his life
In one way or another.
