I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “limit,”
Do you know your limits? Sometimes I think it takes us a little while to notice and realize our own limitations. But we all have limits don’t we?
As an extroverted introvert, meaning I like being around people, but I need my alone time too. Last week while at a conference, I had had way too much extrovert time so I took some time for just me. I knew my limits. I knew that in order to recharge my batteries I had to step away for a little while so I finished Mandy Hale’s book Beautiful Uncertainity while laying poolside. So wonderful!
I also am thankful for the times when there are no limits. On Sunday evening, three friends and I headed to Disneyland for my very first Disney experience EVER! They were so great about simply letting me do whatever I wanted…;putting no limits on my experience. I got to meet Mickey Mouse. I rode some awesome rides. We had a blast! And I think that’s the thing, in places like Disney, life is full of amazing fun and hoprfully no limitations for those that come to experience it.
Since coming home, I feel like I am spent…my limits are spent. Life with mom has been crazy yet again this week,. I am feeling a tad overwhelmed. But it is especially in these limitations, that I know that God is here. There are no limits on who God is and what God will do for each and every one of us. God is a God of no limitations…and for that I am incredibly thankful.
I love this: "There are no limits on who God is and what God will do for each and every one of us. "
Yes! There are no limits to who He is and His amazing love.
Thanks Andee! Those are some of my fave words too.
beautiful! this totally speaks to our shared human condition. I'll also say as an extrovert who sources a lot externally, I need alone time to recharge, though probably not quite as frequently as some others. Now to check out Beautiful Uncertainty—is that a recommendation?
Thank You! And yes Beautiful Uncertainty is a beautiful book.
When I could still move in public, I had a definite limit on extrovert time…and when I hit it, I would find the nearest exit.
Which was once a second-floor window.
And since it was night, I did not realize that there was a rose garden beneath, which proves, I suppose, that life is indeed not a bed of roses. Or something.
Glad you're back!
#2 at FMF.
Andrew, were you the rose between the thorns? 😉
Andrew, thanks for sharing that story. You totally made me smile. I cannot imagine jumping out a second-floor window to land on a rose garden! Ouch!
I'm so glad you get a respite from your busyness! California mid-winter is certainly a great break :). I'll be lifting you up in prayer, my friend!
California was wonderful. Thanks for the prayers. They are so greatly appreciated!
We definitely sense God when our limitations press in on us, don't we? Glad for your time away and a good balance of people/you time. Sounds perfect.
Yes we do.
I am the forever introvert! I love that you got to experience Disney. What a blast and a memory. Hope your mama takes a more positive turn. #21 today at FMF
The forever introvert! 🙂 Disney was so much fun and I am so glad that I got to experience it with my friends. Mama is doing better as of now…she is back at the nursing home.
I love Disney! It's such a happy place with some great memories! I'm glad you had a good experience. And thank you for these true words that we need to know our limits and get to the good place we need to be! Thanks! Happy Friday to you! (Stopping by from FMF #33)
Rachel, Disney was a blast! Thanks for stopping by.
I also have a limit to how long I can spend around lots of people before I need some space. And I have just read Beautiful Uncertainty and loved it too. I'm glad you had such a good time at Disney but I'm sorry things are difficult with your mom. Praying for you.
Carly, wasn't Beautiful Uncertainty wonderful?!? So glad you loved it too. Thanks for the prayers. They are so greatly appreciated. Mom is doing better.
hi tara:) got my post in late b/c i was off a day when i looked for FMF…go figure! just call me clueless! when it wasn't there wed. (was thinking it was thurs.) i figured wasn't putting up FMF. duh. anyway, i'm now caught up:) loved your post:)
Martha, that is totally ok. I think we all get off a day or so sometimes. Glad you loved my post.
Great post, Tara. So thankful that God is not limited like we are. Blessings to you!
Your words here are inspiring, Tara. You're so wise to know your limits. So glad you took time for you too! And Disney! So fun!
Thank You, Julie! Glad that my words inspired you!
It is so great to have friends who encourage us to experience without judgment (or limit). Glad you enjoyed your time while here in Southern CA!
Tara, it sounds like you know how to get the balance right between being active or still, enjoying yourself with others socially and having some alone time. Wise woman! It's still something that trips this shy introvert up. My desire for quiet often outweighs the need to be engaged. But without the necessary refuelling I would be too depleted to give graciously. Glad you had such a good time at Disneyland! Those memories will help to sustain you in quieter periods when you need to pull back a bit. Have a blessed week ahead. 🙂 x
Thank You, Joy! Hope you have had a blessed week too!
I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself. I am a bit jealous about the whole Disneyland thing, but I'm happy that you got to go! Hugs & blessings, friend.
Disney was wonderful! Hugs and blessings to you too friend!
Tara, I am a hop, a skip and a jump from Disney Land. I am glad you know to slow down and limits I also have to set limits on me. LOL I love Disney land. Blessings Diana
I wish I would have known that before I was in CA. It might have been fun to meet in real life. Blessings to you as well.
It is always good to read your posts. I know my limits although I wish I did not have so many.
