I am linking up for Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “middle”. It was so good to see this crew and get back into the groove of FMF. We’d love to have you join us. Just hop onto Twitter on Thursday evenings and follow the #fmfparty. Hope to see you there!
I hear my sister and I singing loudly to a beloved country song “We meet in the middle neath that old Georgia pine, you start walking my way, I start walking yours.” It is the first thing that popped into my mind when I read this week’s word prompt. It is a song that holds special memories and a special place in my heart.
There is something holy about being in the middle especially when the middle is that place where we find ourselves. In fact, sometimes being in the middle is exactly where we need to be. The middle is one of the best places to be like the creme in the Oreo cookie, or the meat in the midst of a yummy sandwich and so much more.
I like being in the middle of my dear friends. One day we will gather at a table where some of us will indeed be stuck in the middle surrounded by one another. We will all start walking toward one another where we will meet in the middle.
And sometimes, it is in the middle of the sky that God paints God’s masterpieces; a night sky, the stars scattered across that same sky, and so much more. The middle isn’t such a bad place to be, is it?
Tara, I LOVE the Oreo analogy! My very favourite cookie, and you put it to work in such a worthy essay. Bravo!
#2 at FMF this week.

Thanks! It actually came from an episode of Full House. Joey and Jessie were sharing with Stephanie all the great things that are in the middle and the Oreo was one they named. I always remember that.
Love that song too! Being in the middle. ..So many meanings. I have not written yet today. On my way! May the middle of each of our days allow us to pause and pray. Give thanks for the morning and pray for the last half of your day to serve gone well if not better than the first half of your day. Jenn
I love that last sentence. So very true!
Mmm, oreos! Such a great way to put it – really enjoyed reading your post 🙂
Yeah now I need to go grab an Oreo! And Thank You!
This is so good! Bea loves it when Frank and I both squeeze her tight. She calls it being the cheese in the mom & dad sandwich. The middle is the best place to be.
Annie, I love that. I have a friend named Tara too and we used to create Tara Sandwiches with our friends.
I love this! The middle is not a bad place to be and who wouldn't want to the be creme in the Oreo-it's the best part! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks Mary!
I think the first thing I thought of was the oreo cookie jingle. You present a positive view of the middle.
Thanks Deborah!
I've never looked at this way before! But you're right, good things come in the middle!
Thanks!
Tara,
I actually use the Oreo often to reassure my middle girl that she's special too. I tell her that she's the cream in my oreo. That she's extra sweet. (She's my puppy personality and her sisters are two kittens. They're not as eager to have you interrupt their physical space. She's all heart and sometimes not enough boundaries.)
Anyway, I loved your post as I always do!
Love,
Tammy
I love that you use the Oreo to reassure your middle girls that she is special too. Love you friend!
I love the Oreo analogy, and being in the middle of friends is definitely a good place to be.
Yes!
The middle can be hard, but it is a good place to be. And I like that song! Brings back good memories for me too. Happy weekend!
Exactly! Hope you had a great weekend!
Love that you had me singing that song. My mother loved country when I was younger. Sometimes being in the middle is right where we're supposed to be. <3 Thanks for visiting me today. Have a blessed weekend. 😀
Carolina, I was singing it too. Hope you had a blessed weekend and week.
Oh wow, that song brings back some major memories!
Right?!?!
Stuck in the middle reminds me of a group hug, with everyone in the middle! I'm not into oreos, but I sure do love my sandwiches full of tangy, creamy, tasty fillings that include lots of veggies and yummy dressings. And the night sky? Some of God's most glorious art!
Ooh I like that.
With the analogy of the Oreo cookie and the sandwich, the middle is the yummiest.
Yes!
Love your thoughts on being in the middle, Tara. You're right, it's not such a bad place to be. 🙂 I haven't written my piece yet, but maybe today. Blessings!
Thanks Gayl! Blessings to you too!
nice tara:) i enjoyed the oreo analogy for sure!
Thanks!
You get the analogy award on this one!
Ha! Ill take it! 🙂
Tara, the middle IS a great place to be, and I love your perspective (and reference to Oreos).
Thanks friend!
This is great. The middle is a very good place. 🙂
Thanks!
Yes, sometimes the middle is a great place to be. On saturday when I was in between races (middle) I had so much excitement about what was completed and what was to come!
Exactly!
Oh Tara, I love the middle of an Oreo or being in the middle of all my friends. Thanks for your encouragement to find the middle places where I love to be!
Thank You! And you're welcome!
I don't do the fmf, but when I first saw on people's blogs that the word was "middle," my first thought was of Oreos, too. 🙂 Love also the middle of good sandwiches, of family and friends, and the middle between extremes (except where it's necessary to take a stand on one side or the other.)
I love that you thought of Oreos too.
