I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung over at our Five Minute Friday website. Today’s word prompt is “with” We would love to have you join us.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”–John 1:1
Joseph was with Mary
The angel told him
Not to be afraid.
Mary
With child
Traveled to Bethlehem
With Joseph.
There was no room
For them in the inn
So a meager manger
Was offered them.
Jesus
The newborn king
The Word made flesh
Born among the straw
With animals all around
Sheep, donkeys, and so much more.
Wisemen came from afar
Bearing gifts;
Gold, frankincense and myrrh
Presents fit for royalty
Fit for a newborn king.
The star in the East
Had led them
To the manger.
Amidst the straw
With Mary and Joseph
Jesus
The Word made flesh
Emmanuel
God with us
Broke into the humanity
Of the world
Bringing hope
For all the world.
I was over at the Mudroom earlier this week and I’d love for you to come visit me there if you haven’t already stopped by. http://mudroomblog.com/piercing-the-silence/
I love how you teased this out in such a simple manner, Tara. Beautiful.
Thank You!
Amen! God with us is such a mind-blowing promise.
It truly is!
Simple and profound. Beautiful!
Visiting from my spot #27
Thanks!
I love your poetry, Tara. I am so thankful for the reminder that God took on flesh and dwelled among us. (John 1:14) I hope you have a very Merry Christmas! – Jolene
Thanks!
This is a lovely poem, Tara! Happy Christmas!
Thank You!
Enjoyed your poetic telling of the incarnation–God’s wonderful gift to us. Thank-you for leaving a comment on my site. My site went down suddenly–the white screen. My son helped me reload the site but I lost my post and had to post it again. So glad to have my son home for a few days.
May you have a blessed and joyous Christmas!
Thanks!
Lovely… and all True, praise God!
Amen!
Tara, what a wonderful, heartfelt poem!
Thank You!
