Dr. Pepper, the Color Green and The Glorious Rocky Mountains!

I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “Favorite.” Write for five minutes; unedited.

I have so many favorites. I LOVE the color green. Just ask my friend Gretchen! 😛 My favorite soda is usually Dr. Pepper. But, my friends and family, you all are my favorites too. But one of my all time favorites is the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

I spent the last ten days in the glorious Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The event is a continuing education event that is held every summer for ten days. I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful this event is. And how it has become one of my favorite things in the world!

First of all, it is held in the midst of some of the most amazing of God’s creation. I can’t help but just take it all in. (Oh my friends I have so many wonderful photos to show all of you!) Secondly, the speakers are always great. But most of all, my favorite is gathering around the campfire each night getting to know new colleagues etc.

It has become one of my all time favorite places because of the scenery, because of the dear people I have met there. It is also my favorite because I truly am able to experience Sabbath there. It is a place where God reminds me constantly to “Be still and know that I am God.”

My friends, you are my favorites too!!! And I have missed you!!!

God sure knows how to show off, doesn’t he?! 🙂

  1. I love the Rockies. I fell in love on a trip to climb a mountain in high school, and was reminded of that love on a chorus trip through the next year. I love God's world.

    (good to see you again)

    • Melinda, the Rockies have become my fave too. I fell in love with the mountains five years ago when I attended this event for the first time. I too love God's world…so amazing! Hugs back at ya!

  2. I love Dr. Pepper too – though I'm not supposed to drink it. I just make my husband order it and then sip at it. 😉 I've never been to the Rockies, but Colorado is on my list. Thanks for sharing your favorites with us, Tara. I've been gone for a spell too, so it's great to be back here together.

  3. Hi Tara 🙂 Your Rocky Mountain getaway sounds amazing. The serenity and peace that is found when you're immersed in God's handmade nature is untouchable. What a blessing.

  4. here you are! when you comment on my page, the only link is to an email. i didn't know where your blog was…or even if you had one! now i know where you are:)

i don't see an about page. do you have one? that's usually where i look first to get acquainted. i'm so nosy:) when i read a book, i look at the author's bio too…and hate it when it tells me practically nothing…or worse, tells me a bunch of cutesy things that are the same as nothing.

i did learn that you are from north dakota, and are single and that you had a lot of mental illness in your family growing up. if you ever have difficulty writing a page about yourself, i'd be glad to interview you and introduce you. i love doing it! i did it on julie onos' blog (Christian Mommy Blogger) (not sure if she still has it up now or not.) but it was very fun.

i enjoyed your list of favs. i've only been to CO a few times, but it is beautiful for sure!

  5. Thank you for sharing your favorites. I have never been to the Rocky Mountains but it is on my bucket list. I am interested in knowing what the continuing education class is that you take at the Rocky Mountains. Hope your weekend was blessed!

    • Thanks friend! I missed you all too! I don't know why we aren't friends on FB yet. But I put an album on my FB page…100 plus photos! I will make a ShutterFly book too and will share the link. But it will be a little while before I get to making that book.

  6. Tara,
our favorite color is green. Were you at Estes Park? (Only the most fabulous YMCA camp of the Rockies…at least twice I have had that pleasure)
I was born in Denver, so you're speaking to me and I can't wait to see the pictures!
And Oh! The Be still and know that He is God when the mountains take your breath away?
    Yes! Yes! Yes!
    Loved all of it!

    • I love Green! Tammy, I WAS at Estes Park. I have not been to the YMCA Camp there. We stay at a place called Meeker Park Lodge between Estes and Allenspark, Colorado. I LOVE the mountains. I shared an album on my FB page..100 plus photos. Yes the Be still and Know that God is God when the mountains take your breath away…INCREDIBLE! Glad you loved my post.
