Choosing to Celebrate Life

I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “Celebrate.” Write for five minutes; unedited.

I have to be honest here friends, I haven’t much felt like celebrating. In fact, if you read my post from the other day (When Life is Wearing On You), you know that life has been wearing on me just a little. But God has this way of knowing what we need and bringing people into our lives to help us know we are not on this journey alone. And for that I am so very thankful and want to celebrate that.

I choose to celebrate all of YOU who are gathered here tonight, who choose to come hear and read my words. You each are such incredible gifts in my life! I LOVE YOU ALL!

I choose to celebrate that my friend is another year older today. I am so blessed to call her one of my dearest friends. Happy Birthday CT!

I choose to celebrate life…as life is so delicate. I think of my new blog friend Andrew who is suffering and more than likely, living his last days.

I choose to celebrate the peace that only God can bring about in a world that is constantly bombarded with fear and war.

I choose to celebrate our similarities rather than our differences.

I choose to celebrate the new life being born into the world each and every day. May they all know the power of your love!

I choose to celebrate the relationships in my life; the relationships that continually nurture me as they each show me the power of your love.

I choose to celebrate that I am a beloved daughter of the one true king and I pray that my friends know this truth too especially on the days when they don’t feel like they are that beloved daughter or son of the one true king.

I choose to celebrate the ordinary and extraordinary moments.
I choose to celebrate the small things and the big things.

And today, during a week, when I haven’t necessarily felt like celebrating, I am taking the time and choosing to simply celebrate!

This is totally the song that popped into my head
when I heard the word prompt. Enjoy!

  1. Tara,
ha ha ha because of your video all I can think of is the commercial where the people quit tobacco. And I'm thinking in my head, let's celebrate quitting. Quitting hopelessness. Quitting fear. Quitting insecurity.
We can be Daughters and rejoice in that identity! No matter how the world identifies us, they never say "you're 'just' a Daughter of the King". 😉
    Love you, dear friend!!
(I'm right in front of you, whee! No late Friday morning post with thumbs this week!)

  2. Love the fact that you note that celebration is a *choice*…..I'm definitely a great believer in our frame of mind shaping everything we do and how we move through, react to, and reflect upon, our lived experiences.

  3. Disco time! I'm celebrating with you!

(And more than ever, Tara…if I may say this…having read your posts and comments, and having gotten to know you here, the guy who wins your heart will have a lifetime of celebration. There are few people as genuine and supportive as you are, and none who surpass you.)

  4. Hi Tara,

Thanks for reminding us that sometimes, we need to purposely choose to celebrate. And when we do, there is lots to celebrate. I hope this next week is less stressful for you.

(PS: I'm #17 in the linkup this week 😉 )

  5. Oh Tara, it is true that sometimes celebration is a choice, rather than a spontaneous response. I love that you are seeking reasons to celebrate in a season where there are few. Hoping that as you do, you find more and more reasons to celebrate. Blessings to you. I'm camped at #26 at #fmfparty today.

  6. I feel similar today- a bit worn down and not really in the mood for celebrating. Thank you for the reminder that it is a choice and that, when we think about it, there are actually a lot of things worth celebrating.

  7. Thanks for sharing, Tara! Yes, there are often times when we don't feel like celebrating, and I am definitely the kind to choose complaining and self-pity. But celebration is a choice, changing your perspective to the little blessings. You never know what comes your way! Have a blessed weekend!

  8. This song came to my mind as well, but I was trying to avoid it 🙂 . Sometimes when life is rough we choose to celebrate. I appreciate your honesty and transparency on your posts. I'm number 33 this week (I think, I might have to double check, lol).

  9. I'm so glad you pointed out that it's a choice. I'm learning that in my own life as I look at each day and ask myself, "Am I going to celebrate what I have or bemoan what I don't?" So much to be thankful for!

  10. Great post, Tara. 🙂 I'm so glad that we can celebrate in the midst of our troubles. So many people don't know the hope that we know in Christ. I'm so thankful that He came to my rescue and that He continues to rescue every heart that calls on Him. That is something to celebrate!

  11. God has given you much to celebrate, Tara! Your words encouraged this heart of mine. Thank you! Even in weary times, we can still find pieces to celebrate. And I love Kool & The Gang! Great post, my friend. You are loved!

  12. hi tara:) sorry it took so long, but i finally made it. we're almost to seattle! yeah! i'll never forget when i was told that i had a choice over my responses to hard times. i didn't have to go downhill and spend time living darkness for a period of time. despite feeling depressed, i could choose to do what i needed to, to move ahead with joy and trust in GOD. i might not be giddy with laughter, but i could function. i was pretty ticked off when i was told this was possible and i didn't have to give in to my feelings. i nearly bit off my husband's head when he told me! but since then, I have learned it is possible. i don't always choose it or exercise or the things that help, but it is possible.

  13. i love how you exercise that by the way you encourage so many of us all the time no matter how you feel! that is one way you walk by faith don't you think? and we benefit.

  14. The fact that you included a Kool & the Gang song means that you win FMF this week! 🙂

I celebrate you. We love you, we need your voice, we are better people for having you around!
