I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “help.” I love spending my Thursday nights with my FMF friends. I adore these people!
I get by with a little help from my friends….
When I decided to turn my 31 days series into a book, I knew I could count on friends to proof it and give me suggestions. I knew I could count on you all to buy my book and share about it. July sales are slow but I know I can count on you all for help.
During my seminary days, it was my friends and professors who helped me finally pass systematic theology. They made me realize how important it was to ask for help. Because with that help, I could pass that class.
There are times when we just need a friend to listen or a shoulder to cry on. Just the other day, I texted a friend and asked her to pray. She responded almost immediately with some Bible verses that blessed me. Those words of help were a gift in that moment.
How can we help others? How can we ask for help when we need it? I am so thankful that we have a God who knows what we need before we even know we need it for ourselves. God is a God who helps us in our times of sorrow but also is with us in our times of joy too.
Help may only be a four letter word, but it is so much more than those four letters. Help often comes in all shapes and sizes. Help sometimes comes in friends sitting with us. Help sometimes comes in an unexpected call or text. Help comes in blog friends who give you pointers on how to stay cool like freezing your pillowcase to keep cool.
I am so thankful….that I get by with a little help from my friends!
yes, excellent thoughts and transformative outcomes all around! Esp for women, asking for help is so difficult.
Thank You!
Great post, Tara. I wanted to touch on how we are all interconnected in Jesus' economy in my blog, but there was no time! 🙂 Five minutes flies by when you have a lot of words on your mind. 🙂
I am so thankful that I have friends who help me out too. They make life so much richer. And being confident that you will get the help you need gives its own sort of peace.
Great post, my friend!
Five minutes truly does go by quickly when you have lots of words on your mind. Thank You!
I'm so thankful for the friends I've met through #FMF and other places online. God has blessed us and I'm thankful that as friends we can help each other. Blessings to you, Tara!
Gayl, me too! Blessings to you too!
Love this, Tara, and freezing the pillowcase sounds like a great idea!

Andrew, thank you! And I'll try just about anything to make my house cooler! 😛
I have the song in my mind now! So true- we need each other so much… and that is a good thing!

Yes!!
HA! I'm singing along. I am so glad to that our Father knows what we need even before we do. Joining you from #FMF today.
Me too!!
Thank you for your help and encouragement. I love that through FMF, I have friends that I have never met, but are still very dear to me. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Thank You! Me too! I hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was great!
Tara, I'm so glad that I know you. It's a constant temptation of mine to be all curmudgeonly and shun people. Your words remind me to be open and humble, keeping in mind that I can't do it all on my own. Love you!
Thanks Marie! Your kind words made me blush! 😛 I am not always the best at being open and humble either. But I do my best to try and be those things. Love you right back!
Oh the asking for help is so difficult for me! But so so essential! Thank you for sharing this! 😀
Carey, it can be for me too!
