Open My Heart

I am linking up for the Five Minute Friday. The FMF is hosted by Kate Motaung on her blog Heading Home. Today’s prompt is “Open.” Write for five minutes; unedited.

For a long time I have asked for God to open my heart to that special person to love. It is a prayer that I continually seem to be lifting up to God in prayer. And I patiently wait for God to hear my prayers. There are days that I wonder if God hears them at all.

This year my oneword365 “brave” is finding its way into my head and my heart in a lot of ways. There have been whispers shared with me through friends gently nudging me to pray about being a foster mom or adopting a child of my own. For a long time, I have felt God’s nudgings but I have felt more roadblocks than open doors. Is God continually nudging me to open my heart and to trust God to hold my heart?

I am not sure what door is opening for me, but what I do know is that I need to trust in God…to trust God to make me brave; to fully give my heart up to God! God has a way of opening our doors, sneaking in, and showing up when we least expect him.

As my heart waits to be opened for that special someone to love, I am choosing to be brave. I want to be a woman who is brave and doesn’t tiptoe around fear. In the words of Renee Swope’s, “I want to be a woman overcomes obstacles by tackling them in faith instead of tiptoeing around them in fear.”

Praying for God to continually open my heart!

  1. I have always wanted to adopt/foster as well, it is a tough call being single like you.. praying for you, praying that God would open doors when the time is perfect and that your heart would be at peace knowing that you are loved by your heavenly Father. Oh, and yay for being brave, love the Renee Swope quote.

  2. I too prayed for years for the right man to enter my life. I wanted to be a wife and mother. Didn't happen. Instead he sent me a wonderful woman to be my friend. We had lots in common, but most of all our faith in God and love for singing classical music. She too, had been praying for a husband because she too wanted to be a wife and mother. Finally, one night, she said "Okay Lord. If you don't want me married, could you at least send me a good friend?" We knew each other from singing in the same chorus, but neither of us liked the other. After a concert tour, we were thrown together because airplane boarding passes were mixed up and we had to sit next to each other for 10 hours! There We ended up buying a house together and were like sisters until God called her home 7 years ago. Do I miss not being married and being a mother? You bet. But I would have missed many things I was able to enjoy that would not have been possible if I had married. I don't know what the future holds for you, but I do know Who holds your future. And…as He always said, "Do not fear!" Chaplain Sandy Reback, D.M.

  3. Praying for you to find the one and to be brave in taking the next step in your life. It must be hard to wait and hard to move forward at the same time. Trying to make the right choice and listening to God's voice. My friend waited a long time to get married and then when they tried to have children they found out it was too late. She just posted on FB they will become foster parents of a baby who will be born in a few months. God answer prayers.

  4. "God has a way of opening our doors, sneaking in, and showing up when we least expect him." Gotta give an amen to that! So very true…which sometimes can be difficult when we just want a clear answer, but it's also part of God's character that builds our faith and allows us to point others to Him. Praying He will show you ways to walk with Him brave every day.
